Type Hindi with the English keyboard you already know

Switch on Hindi typing, write words the way they sound, and press space. The word turns into Devanagari. Press Ctrl+Z to undo a word.

Where it works

  • IndoWrite for letters, applications and reports
  • IndoPad for quick notes
  • IndoSlide for slides in Hindi
  • The same rules everywhere, so a word typed in one app looks the same in another

Made for real documents

  • 15 font families with Devanagari, including ones for headings and for print
  • 49 document templates, with letters and applications in Hindi
  • Rupees in words in Hindi: "एक लाख पच्चीस हज़ार रुपये मात्र"
  • Opens and saves Word files, so your Hindi stays when you share it

Honest about its limits

  • It follows fixed spelling rules. It does not know every word, so some long vowels need to be typed out.
  • It is not a speech tool. A voice typing option uses your browser where the browser supports it.

Questions

Do I need to install a Hindi keyboard?

No. It works on the normal English keyboard in your browser and in the Windows and Android apps.

Will Hindi text open correctly in Word?

Yes. The file is a normal .docx and the fonts used are named in it. If the other computer does not have the font, Word picks a similar one.

Can I type Marathi or Sanskrit?

The same Devanagari letters work, but the spelling rules are made for Hindi, so expect to correct some words.
